A new poll by the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) Center for Insights in Survey Research of Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), North Macedonia and Serbia reflects a broad consensus that these countries belong to neither the West nor the East. Despite this attitude, the survey suggests that opportunities for engagement by Western institutions exist across the region. In March 2019, Slovakia is voting for its 5th President since independence and the Beacon project is conducting online media monitoring using its proprietary >versus< media-monitoring tool to gain deeper understanding how the various Presidential candidates are presented, but also to detect and analyze any malign narratives or disinformation campaigns present.. From May 16-18, the Beacon Project participated in the annual POINT conference in Sarajevo. POINT Conference (Political Accountability and New Technologies) is a regional conference for civil society organizations from six countries of Southeast Europe.
